Reflection

I wrote my story as 3 parts and it was difficult to make.

The three parts are:a) past continuous, often used when setting the scene, e.g. I was driving home when I saw ...) simple past, the main form of the narrative, e.g. I saw, I ran, he was, I thought.c) past perfect, only rarely used.

For the interfacing of past and the past perfect I needed some corrections ... e.g When I arrived at the ATI, the class had already started. The class had already started when I got to the ATI.

The hardest part in writing a story is to imagine the story and writing it in good order to match the three tenses.

I think many of my classmates faced the same problem.

Reflection

In this reflection I will write about the process. The process must be in the passive form.

It will contain is and are plus the past participle, as are squeezed, is freezed, are mixed.

The process essay is always short. It has like 30 word for the introduction, 100 – 120 for the main process and 30 as conclusion so it will be within 150-180 words in total.

Comparing 2 countries

In this essay I will write about the similarities and differences between the UAE and Brunei. Both countries have many interesting things which will attract you. At the end I will write my own opinion about which country I feel it’s better for me to live in.

The UAE and Brunei have many similarities. Both are Islamic countries which have almost the same traditions. Both countries have hereditary monarchies ruling the land. You may be surprised if you know that Brunei has a lot of gas and oil just like the UAE; that’s why it is one of the rich countries. As national airlines both countries are leading the world in their nice planes in their very modern airports.

However both countries have differences. The biggest difference thing that anyone can notice is the climate between the two countries. It is very nice in Brunei and rainy almost every day. Their houses are built in a way that it is suitable for that kind of climate. In Brunei they also have very green jungles with a lot of trees and fruits. All of those things are making such a small country like Brunei a very nice place to live compared to the UAE. The roads in the UAE are better in designing and the cars in the UAE are left hand drive while it is right hand drive in Brunei. The education in UAE is a better but it is single sex schools, while in Brunei it is a co-education at system.

In my opinion as an Arabic person I would prefer to live in the UAE because it is a very modern country and it is growing very fast. I think the UAE is a better place for the future but the weather is the only problem while we are fasting in the UAE. All of this could be because I was born in the UAE, or it may be the feeling of being home.

That’s all about comparing the UAE and Brunei. I hope you find it an interesting topic because my teacher (Hedley) forced me to write about it.

Comparing the lap top and desk top

In this essay I will compare two types of computers. As we all have noticed the non-stop development of the computer, it has become smaller and smaller. In this essay you will read about the similarities and difference between the lap top and desk top computers.

Computers are generally the same in function but different in shapes and sizes. Both lap top and desk top can do the same job for anything. Both can be edited by hardware and software . Both can be connected to exported devices and both get upgrades every single day. Nowdays both can have the same wide space for storing data and the same high speed.

However, it all depends on where you use them. In case of travelling and working for long distances the lap top can be very useful because of its small size and portable battery. If you are a heavy computer user I advise you to go for the desk top because it’s suitable for the heavy duty and has a multi cooling system. Lap tops are usually used for business so you won’t need to edit too much hardware of install so many programs, but with the desk top can get as much hardware as you want and get the most heavy programs without any problems.

I personally prefer the desk top computer for my daily use because it’s very powerful and fast. Anyway you can’t live without a lap top because it saves your time and it’s portable. Both of them are necessary no days but it all depends on your demands.

Orange process

In this essay I will explain about making orange juice. Orange juice is very healthy and contains a lot of vitamins like C ,A ,B. You will read about the process of making high quality orange juice.

First, the fruit is unloaded from the lorries. Then the orange is graded and washed. After that the oranges are sent to the sizer and the juice extractor is takes the waste out which is used for feeding animals. Then the juice is evaporated at high temperature for a short time. The juice is passed through a concentrator.
Next step, juice is refrigerated in storage tanks to cool. After that, it is sent to the canning machine. The juice is shipped for selling. Finally water is added to the juice.

That’s all about the process. I hope you enjoyed it but I know you will enjoy it more if you visit any juice making factory. It’s huge but noisy so don’t forget to get your ear protection.

Reflection

In my writing procedure I used 2 essential types
1) I used the imperatives form, i.e. make sure, add, place, drain, separate, etc. Sometimes I was writing with –ing verbs or using extra unnecessary words

2) I used linking words, e.g. first of all, second, now, then, later on, after this, finally, at last

I always write my essays in 3 paragraphs: short introduction, main paragraph which is the body(c. 90-100 words) and short conclusion with advice; total: 150-160 words.

Car accident

In this essay I will write about a story that happened to me a long time ago at ATI. You will read about a bad day I had. You may believe my story, but I think it’s hard to believe.

One day I was going to ATI as a very usual day of studying. I started moving late from home, so I drove my car as fast as I could. My car was fully HKS kited and has so many boosters, like turbo, filters, race wires, NOS2, exhaust system and many other things which make cars go faster. My speed was 270 Kph. When I reached Al Maquta bridge I saw a car which was slipping from the right side of the road to the left, towards me. I recognized the car. It was my friend’s car and I thought he was joking with me, but when I saw that he crashed into other car, I know he wasn’t kidding me. The accident was right in front of me. I thought that i was dead at that moment, but I thought if I speeded more I would be lucky and avoid them, so I did press my NOS2 button and boosted my car speed to 320 Kph. It was perfect that I just passed them. If I were a second late I would not be able to write this easy. The other cars who were behind me could not make it, so they did crash with my friend’s car. I called my friend to check if he was fine. Luckily he had enough time to run out of his car. Directly I went to our supervisor and explained to him what happened and he said ‘’Fine, Abdullah I’m glad you are still alive, but you are still late for the class’’. He told me that if I left home earlier that wouldn’t happen.

That’s all about my story. I hope you will believe me. Remember that accidents won’t happen with no reason; they are always there every where just waiting for a small reason to appear.

How to make butter

In this essay I am going to explain how to make an exultant quality butter. It’s a little long procedure but it’s very worthy when you test it. In the old days it was a matter of pleasure to have a good tasty butter; they even said if you want a good tasty butter make your cow live like queens!

Fresh milk is the secret of royalty in butter, so make sure your milk is fresh and check the fat content. Then leave the milk to cool .After some time you will have a cream on the milk. Separate it from the milk . Then the next step is to churn the cream. Drain the buttermilk from the butter. Now place the butter in a clean jar. After that wash the butter with cold water carefully to remove remaining buttermilk .At this stage you have produced pure butter. Add some salt for flavor as you like. Last thing is to cut and wrap the butter the way you want. Finally store the butter in the fridge and enjoy it!

Now I hope you understand how to make a royal butter without real royal cost or making your cow live a queen's life . The more you make butter the more experience you gain.

Making Machbous

In this essay I will write about making machbous. I know it sounds hard, but stick with my explanation and you will find it a very easy meal. Machbous is originally an Arabian meal, usually for lunch.

First of all you have to get the ingredients and they are all available in the markets, so you have to get meat , vegetables , spices , rice , tomatoes , salt and dried lemon . Boil the meat is the water for some time. While boiling the meat you can cut the vegetables and tomatoes. Always remember to remove the fat from the boiling water. After that just add the salt and spices to the meat until tender. Then take it out after some time and mix it with the rice. Now just cook it for 30-45 minutes until you see the meat is getting loose with the rice. The last thing is to enjoy eating it.

Don’t forget, cook safely and don’t rush. Don’t eat so much. It’s a very heavy meal. That’s all. I hope it’s very easy now and good luck with cooking it

Last summer

In this essay I will write about my last summer, It was a very funny summer for me and my family. I will write about our new cars, like my new BMW car, my brother’s new GMC car and about my little sister’s new Canon camera.

Last summer my family and I had decided to spend some money from our bank account , so I decided to buy a new car, Here it came that my younger brother said he wanted the same. The problem was that my brother was still a student and had no money to buy a car, so I had to help him buy a car.

We went together to seek the showrooms for new cars. It took a several days, until I found my dream car, BMW 7 series. It was expensive but it was worth that price. I called my father to check it out; he did take a shufti and he said ‘’It’s a very nice car .Go ahead my son’’. Later on my brother found a very nice GMC truck and he loved it, so I went to that showroom and checked it out . It was hug and awesome , Although my brother still hasn’t got a driving license we decided to buy it because it’s very useful for our farm. On the same night my little sister start crying to get a Canon camera and she was only 7 years old, Which means that I had to pay an extra 7000 Dh for her. I tried to change her mind but as we all know ,girls never change their minds. Next day I went to the bank with my sister and withdrew 10,000 just in case she wanted something else!. Then she started to feel so good and finally she got her Canon camera. Now I am enjoying my new BMW and my brother does the same for his new GMC , But we can’t avoid our little sister’s zoomed pictures for her new canon camera!.

That’s all about my last summer story with my little jealous family, But we have the same blood and that’s the older brother’s disadvantages!! . I hope you enjoyed reading it

How to use ATM

In this essay I am going to write about how to use the bank card at any ATM. ATMs are available everywhere and all of them are the same.

Cards are easy to get from any bank. First you have to put the card inside the ATM. Then you enter your password, which is a maximum 4 numbers. You can select and change at any time by your bank branch ATM. After this you can select what service you want. Usually you will select to take cash out, so enter your needed amount of money, and then press enter. If you are a VIP member your cash will come out first; if you are not, your card will come out first, then your card.

There are many other things to do with an ATM, but this was the cash withdrawal system. You always start by inserting your card and end by removing it and your money.
